Pointe exercises

Using resistance bands! If you’re on pointe or working to get there this is a simple way to help strengthen your ankles and those ever important wing muscles so you won’t scycle.

You can either tie your theraband/resistance band to create a loop. I have a band already in a loop as you can see.

Wrap around the balls of your feet in a semi flexed position not resting your heels on the floor. Keep the band taught but not to your full potential.

Keeping flexed stretch your band or push your feet away from each other. Return to starting position. Do as many reps as you can handle.

Then alternate with one foot holding still and flexed and the other foot winging/moving away from the other foot. As many as you can handle 🙂

Good Luck!

The aftermath of Nutcracker

I am sick. I had the worst aches and chills Monday morning. Then later that night I had a restless sweaty sleep. Then I woke up nauseous. I’m probably going to battle this all week 😦 I’m doing what I can to kick it but we’ll see.

As for the Nutcracker, it was a great experience! I loved it. I love dancing and performing. I think my teacher was really proud of me and my doll dance.

I had ten friends and family come and see my performance. Everyone in the crowds were nice and complimentary. It was overall a very positive experience.

I didn’t want to miss Monday class because my teacher would talk about her likes and dislikes concerning it all. But I missed out getting sick.

There’s a lot that went on and I’m not sure what to cover unless you want me to write a book. So you guys can leave me as many questions as you want about nutcracker and I’ll answer them to the best of my ability 😀

I leave you with a picture of me and my fellow dancer practicing for our dolls dance.

Nutcracker the drama

Today we had performance twice. One at 9:45 and one at 12:15. Mostly school children. My first run was AWFUL. Not because I had jitters but because I was do tired and not warmed up and completely spaced out.

Second one I didn’t want the same mistake so I totally focused and NAILED it! Then the girls and I had lotsa fun taking pictures in the back.

We’ve been having issues with mustaches staying on so we finally lost ’em (twice on me during performance) and finally used makeup and painted it on. We were so happy!

Unfortunately there was confusion about Saturday night and the solo given to me. So I’m only doing it at night. It kinda tumbled into something nasty and I was pretty upset because I tried to not associate myself with any drama. Either way the person who shares the solo with me is pretty much avoiding me.

If anything I’ve learned so far is camaraderie and supportiveness with your fellow dancers is WAY better than being distant or uncaring or uninvolved.

There’s a lot of back talking about other dancers in the snow and flower group and that’s really sad. 😦

More if I can make time!

BRB, Nutcracker

I just realized I’ve been dancing from last Wednesday and won’t stop until December 9th. I think it’s best to take a break for Nutcracker. I’ll be sure to try and document and share my first nutcracker. Teacher today loved our candy cane Cossack dance because of our smiles and overall performance. Beat that flowers and snow!
