Don’t forget to try

The month of April went by so quickly! With full busy weekends, a lot going on at home recollecting, organizing, and cleaning up my life after retail work. Ballet, teacher assisting, and choreography for the recital. My 30 day challenge has been sorely neglected. Which also means my stretching if it had progressed has reverted, so I’m kinda in stretch limbo. If I stretch and warm up a lot before rehearsing to do the attitude I can see small improvement… but no where achieved my goal. WHICH I’M OKAY WITH!

April has been rough but being the optimist I’m always looking at the glass half full.

I know what I need to be better at. I know what I should do and continue to do to try and be better. I will try and recoup some lost time and will always continue to try and try harder 😀

A History

Ballet is an old art form. Royal Ballet has been doing educational seminars, which is awesome! It helps modernize ballet, make those unfamiliar with it familiar and understanding of why ballet is the way it is. The Royal Opera House is doing a marvelous job in staying current and being one of the best places to be a dancer and or part of the arts ie. opera, stage creation, costume design, etc.! Lucky for us they’ve been sharing this on their popular YouTube channel! Like I said, they’re getting hip with it maaaaaan. Hah! So I share with yee, some ballet history performed by the Royal Ballet.

PNB Swan Lake

Husband took me to see the PNB’s Swan Lake, one of many performances for their 40th anniversary. We decided to make reservations for the restaurant located at the McCaw Hall for brunch and had a very relaxing laid back dining experience. Husband wants to do it again next time, haha!

Overall it was nice to see a full performance, and I had chosen the seats for the best advantage to see the technical choreography when they move in patterns on stage. AWESOME! I understand that marley flooring is in and great for reducing slippage, but when every swan turned a squeak followed. 30 swans with mostly squeaks was embarrassing! A girl sitting behind me voiced everything my brain said! “Why are they squeaking so much?” There was some interesting choreographed arms. I could tell they were choreographed because when they danced in a normal combination the flow of their arms and epaulment was better. The stocatto combination in the act I pas de trois had very unelegant arms even my Husband noticed and was perturbed. Also I was embarrassed for the dancer who played Odette/Odile. Her first entrance onto the stage is a jete land in elonge 4th. She tripped. And while she was Odile in the III act, the dancer playing the distraught Odette in the shadows was excellent! Her body really emoted! She out shone the principal dancer- err! It’s not to say she wasn’t lovely or anything, just… Not emo enough I think. Too technical and stiff.
The costumes on the other hand. Gorgeous! The swans were all bedazzled! Super gorgeous and unique! All new costumes for the performance.

The Trocks are in town again in May and I’m going to see if my GFs want to go.

Overall. It was a joy to see the ballet, spend time with my Husband and relax!

I am so aggro right now. There’s a lot of factors including health issues like my teeth right now. I’m having super sensitivity to hot and cold … just… UGH. Top it off with how long and and hard I’ve been working on our performance piece and how my redacted (cuz I’m a wuss!) and I clash, etc. I’m just finding it difficult to focus on my 30 day challenge. I stretch and work on opening my hips when I can, but it hasn’t been every day. I have a headache right now, and ugh. DESK TO HEAD. I’m just very aggravated right now.

I AM HAPPY though, to see everyone else chugging away at their 30 day!!! That does make me feel better concerning it all. I wish you all the best and hopefully tomorrow I’ll feel better and after a relaxing weekend of WATCHING SWAN LAKE AT PNB, and stretching… I’ll be back on my game! GRRR!!
